One step forward- The Indonesian coal Domestic Market Obligation has been cancelled for the remainder of the 2014 year. Apparently concerns by KPK that the scheme was being mistreated as a trading scheme, and Indonesian coal consumers already have the remainder of the years trades completed.

One step to the right side – The Forestry department has issued a letter to postpone any new applications or ongoing processing of forestry permits (Pinjam Pakai), until the new government is in place.

One Step Back – The Department of Trade is insisting that the new coal export regulation be implemented on 1 September, despite industry concerns that the mechanism may not be in place.

One step side to the left – The KPK are conducting investigations into multi levels of the Mines Department (ESDM), so uncertainty is a prelude to hope for a better outcome.
