Outline :- Many illness and genetic illness have in certain historical contexts been a survival advantage, and thus our evolution has retained many such illness within the general gene pool. The first example is one of the clearest, where a patient sufferers from lack of iron in the blood, and will likely die in mid 30’s. But it turns out iron in the blood is a key component for bacteria to grow, so people with such iron deficiencies during periods of mass deaths from plague etc will survive better and pass on such genes.
