Comment ; A lot easier to read than Cultural travel and migrancy wherein he looks at radio under Soekarno as derived from war time propaganda machine to state control machine. Habibi allowed virtually free development of the radio industry wherein the underground stations developed and private media stations boomed. The nature of radio was transformed from state telling everyone its politicized message to one where talk back radio and such allowed people to talk to people. It looks at the development of journalism, the roll in conflict resolution and the development of regional identity etc. Overall Indonesians are becoming more sophisticated, informed and stable community.
