Amerithrax – The Hunt for the Anthrax Killer (book review)

Title :- Amerithrax – The Hunt for the Anthrax Killer

By :- Robert Graysmith

Published :- Berkley Publishing Group , USA (2003) Hard back (400 pages).

Outline :- In 2001 someone mailed deadly anthrax in America, causing deaths and the shut down of the postal system. A huge man hunt evolves at about the time 24 hour news comes to America, and everyone is in trauma. The Government has never had terrorism of this nature before, and has to learn the hard way to set up protocols resulting in more contacts with anthrax in the post office. A strong suspect is identified, and the media hounds him despite the lack of evidence or final prosecution. The American biological warfare program and stocks are brought to light, but the Government seems to quietly step around that, with denials and secrecy. No one was ever convicted, and the perpetrator never found, and the American biological war effort is probably still there. Easy to read, and a record that should serve for future learning, that not all terrorists are foreigners with a different political or moral outlook. Perhaps they are true nationals trying to expose some wrong doing by their own government !!
