A few months back I invited many of my Linked In contacts to participate in a survey on the new Law 11/2014 that required geologist and mining professionals to become registered engineers with the Government of Indonesia. My review of this new law appeared in Coal Asia magazine Vol 43 (May – June 2014), along with the survey results, and is now also on my web site www.ianwollff.com along with my past Coal Asia articles etc.
The results of the survey are;
1. Have you read UU 11/2014 on the certification of engineers? 23 Yes, 10 No.
2. Do you feel the proposed registration of engineers will help the industry? 22 Yes, 12 No.
3. Do you feel such registration will help you get or keep work? 14 Yes, 19 No.
4. Should the Ministry of Education be the principal party to manage engineers? 15 Yes, 19 No.
5. Should the certification of engineers be done through PII? 12 Yes, 22 No.
6. Should PII replace all other professional associations? 7 Yes, 25 No.
